Coding at Sea!

Although, this is an old news(2005), I happened to hit on this only few days back and sounded interesting.

A california based IT company, SeaCode, was planning to anchor a ship off the coast of California full of foreign programmers. The plan was that programmers will work in two shifts and churn the code round the clock. The stated benefit was that low rates and near-shore(in international waters to be precise!).

I am curious to know how this has worked out so far. I did serveral search but couldn’t get any update on the current status. I visited the SeaCode website but the site looks stale with no customer references or case studies.

I wonder what happended to SeaCode! Did it take off in the first place? Is it still floating? Any idea!
