6 Tips for Improving the Cross-Cultural Competency of Offshore Teams

TipsI had highlighted some tips for handling cross cultural issues in one of my earlier post Quick tips to handle soft issues during transition. I have come across this article, 6 Tips for Improving the Cross-Cultural Competency of Offshore Teams which offers good tips for developing cross cultural compentency and I suggest it for a quick read.

I would add one more tip to this for quicker and better team bonding and cross cultural understanding. Cross-locate few members of the onsite team in offshore and vice versa for few months on a rotation basis. This will provide an opportunity for people to live in a foreign country, do face to face interaction with the distributed team and best understand the other team way of thinking, working and culture. Besides, for offshore team members the onsite visit is a big motivational factor.
